“Separation of Church and State” Does Not Mean What Most People Think It Means
Separation of Church and State is not in the Constitution
Separation of Church and State was mentioned in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson, and is misused by its promoters.
Rule of Law: The intent of the framer constitutes the law. So, listen up!
Though Jefferson was in Europe at the time of the Constitutional Convention, he had much influence on its framing, because the framers knew him well, and treasured his wisdom.
So, if separation of Church and State was in a letter he wrote, what did he mean by it?
He had had much to say about the three branches -- legislative, executive, judicial, how all being separate provided a good balance of power -- checks and balances. Understanding his frame of mind, tells us that in saying in the letter that he hoped that Church and State would remain separate, his thought was that the separation of Church and State meant the Church was to be a separate Power -- as the People's check against the three branches of government. If the Church does not speak out, what segment of society -- the People -- will? And we have a duty to do so, as the People are the sovereign power under the Constitution. The officers of the government are our servants. This is a very important concept for us to take to heart, for they have tricked us into being their servants. How did they do that? Read on.
Jefferson also thought a lot about education. In those days the Church was the school -- the Holy Bible was the textbook. There were no government schools. Things have changed a lot since then.
Some Churches still are the school. Following is the true story of the experience of one of them. Historically the church has been a place of refuge. Even a criminal could not be arrested in a church. The police were obliged to lie in wait and apprehend him when he came out. Pastor Everett Sileven and several of the fathers of the children in his school were arrested and taken to jail by police who entered the church while they were at prayer.
Dr. Everett Sileven, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church, in Louisville, Nebraska, has gained national recognition as the preacher who went to jail rather than submit to state licensure concerning his school. In a talk to a Missouri congregation, he said the following: Now, many people have asked me, “How did they get you in jail?” Let me say this; it might shock you, but I personally was never charged with anything. I’ve never been charged with breaking the law. I’ve never been charged with committing a crime, I’ve never had a trial. So, you ask again, “How in the world did they get you in jail?” Well, I may know nothing about your church and I may ‘hit’ you here, but I’m finding this is one of the things God wants me to tell churches. They sued the corporation. When a church incorporates, it becomes a creature of the state. The church's officers become agents of the state. And the agents and the officers and the corporation have no constitutional rights.
And, by the way, if you take a license for anything, you lose your constitutional right for the thing you took the license out for.
Now, I’m going to give you a shocker. I don’t like to do these things ’cause it makes me look ridiculous, but you see we’ve learned some things. For six years we went down to the legislature and we said to the legislature, “Give us some relief!” Now I’m glad tonight that I can stand here before you and say they did NOT give us any relief. And I’m glad they didn’t because the Constitution says that’s an area they shouldn’t be involved with in the first place.
But as we testified before the committee, the parents would testify, and they’d weep and say, “These are OUR children! God gave US these children! And we’re responsible for them!” as they’d look across the table at those senators.
Senator Pheifer is a young man about 38 years old, and he’s an attorney and a legislator. He’s on an education subcommittee. These parents were testifying, and Mr. Pfeifer looked back across the table and said to this mother who had just testified, “Do you have a state marriage license?”
“Yes, I do,” she said.
He said, “Hasn’t anybody ever told you that a marriage license is a privilege from the state and that every child born to a family with a state marriage license is a ward of the state?”
(Senator Peter Hoegland was on a television show with me debating the issue. What he said to me on that show was repeated by the head of the state PTA and by the executive director of the State Board Association and by the executive director of the teacher’s union: four people said the same thing. We were on channel 6 on [the] Live At Five [program].) This lady looked over at me and she said, “Pastor Sileven, only eight states in the union require licensed schools and certified teachers. It surely must not be that important of an issue.”I said, “You’re right. there’s a way to solve the problem: National Standardized testing. We had our students tested by the state’s own experts. We’re a year ahead of the public schools, two and a half years ahead of the Omaha public schools, We were so good that the judge wouldn’t even let us put it in the record.” Well, she looked over to Senator Hoegland and said, “Senator, why is Nebraska making such a big deal out of this?”
Now, listen up folks. that senator said to the whole listening audience: “The reason we’re making a big deal out of this is because fundamental Bible-believing Christians do not have a right to educate children in their doctrine. Because in the year 2000, America is going to be part of the one-world socialist order and their children will not fit in.”
How did we ever get hoodwinked into such a fix as this?
Boris Pasternak gives at least a partial answer to that question: From many generations’ ranks Someone steps forward, all alone. Genius announces privilege And going, leaves oppression’s yoke. -- Boris PasternakPerhaps the rest of the answer is education: Be informed.

To See the Big Picture
Are You Tired of Fighting the Issues One by One?
When God's people humble ourselves, pray, seek God's face, and turn from our wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14) -- to be enabled to elect -- to all levels of government, from bottom up: towns, counties, States, and Reps to Congress -- statesmen committed to ... ... the Constitution ...
... then the States can restore our Constitutional Republic simply, with nullification, by the Constitution -- the Miracle by which God, in answer to prayer, healed the USA from dying in infancy!
What was miraculous about the Constitution? Go to Miracle of God,
Then, to see the rest of the big picture, if you have reached this page from an outside link, and do not know -- most people don't -- that the Republic of the USA suffered a coup d'etat, nearly a century ago; and the details of the means by which our Constitutional Republic and government accountability CAN be restored, we suggest that you go to Home, which is the ...

Inherent in the Constitution is a viable Plan to take our nation back to be the great Republic it started out to be. The People have the authority. Not by legislation through the current Congress, nor by jurisdiction through the Courts; all of which are part of the problem. We can do it by nullification through the State Legislatures.
The States have Two Keys; -- the Only Keys -- both are in the Constitution.
One State ... could start that ball rolling!
